Artist Statement

As a dance artist, I am driven by the belief that every individual brings unique strength, experience, and potential into the studio. My choreographic and creative work begins with this recognition, and I strive to build spaces where dancers feel seen, challenged, and inspired to grow. Whether I am performing, creating, or collaborating, I approach movement as a language of both precision and possibility, one that communicates beyond words and invites deeper reflection.

My background in both Dance Performance & Choreography and Dance Science has shaped my understanding of the body as both instrument and storyteller. Through this dual perspective, I am able to approach movement not only as an artistic expression but also as a study of anatomy, biomechanics, and alignment. This approach ensures that my work is not only creative but also grounded in the realities of the body’s capabilities and limitations. I emphasize somatic awareness in my creative process, designing movement that is expressive, intentional, and safe, especially when working with developing dancers. I believe that incorporating somatic principles helps foster a deeper connection to the body, which allows dancers to access more expansive and emotionally resonant movement.

In rehearsal, I aim to create an environment that is inclusive, collaborative, and artistically rigorous. I tailor choreography to highlight individual abilities while encouraging dancers to take risks, embrace vulnerability, and explore new dimensions of their artistry. My work aims to balance technical precision with emotional depth, creating pieces that reflect personal and collective experiences with honesty, nuance, and authenticity. I want to challenge dancers to push boundaries while maintaining integrity and respect for their unique voices and physical expression.

Ultimately, my goal is to create work that resonates with both the performer and the audience, fostering a deep connection through movement. I strive to develop pieces that are meaningful, thought-provoking, and impactful, reflecting the full spectrum of human experience through the lens of dance.
